Hello all,

A few thoughts. . .

It's too bad a few people would like to keep 'politics' off the list serve. I'm currently an American librarian/student living in Canada, and I think it's a shame (and more than a little disturbing) that there's some 'ssusshhh'-ing going around on the list serve concerning a little political chit-chat. [[[S. Berman come to mind?]]]  

Librarians, political? Naw. . . 

Well-- Art is Political and Politics is the Everyday, hence. . .   

Have we grown so accustomed to 'technical details' and 'facts' that we have lost sight of passion?: the very livelihood of the people and materials we work with (and that were destroyed by the American Colonial Invasion--yes: they stood aside and let this happen. Do you think an administration that spends $8,000 dollars to cover the Sprit of Justice cares about art? Cares about Beauty? We do know, however, they care for the military complex. . .)

This administration's politics affects everyone of us, in our lives; in our work and I think a little subjective passion is quite necessary, even when we offer a fact or two. It might be time that we, as Librarians; nay, as Americans, stand up with passion to this madman and his violent, embarrassing administration.

I like this listserve and find it quite helpful (when I get a chance to play 'catch-up'). Helpful, except for the subject lines: often, they don't make much sense. Strange. . . oh well. . .

I have no institutional bonds.
