Dear Colleagues in the Decorative Arts:

I received a request from a customer (patron) who is looking for images
and/or a possible citation of 17th Century (maybe earlier, 15th or 16th
Century) room dividers that "employ a patchwork screen in the tradition of
embroidery of needlepoint but are not stitched." They were used as room
dividers or fireplace screens and possibly for heraldry purposes. Most were
made of cloth with pieces of fabric stitched together (but not needlepoint),
affixed to a wooden frame. Please e-mail me directly with some semblance of
what this person may be talking about because I don't exactly know-thanks!
:-)
