Dear Conference Attendees, FYI. Laura Gordon-Murnane will be the speaker at "The Invisible Web and More" on Sunday, March 23, 10:30-Noon, in International A, B, and C. Ms. Murname has co-presented with Gary Price (author, The Invisible Web) at library conferences. Laura Gordon-Murnane has recently authored “Access to Government Information in the Post 9/11 World” (Searcher Magazine, June 2002) and “Electronic Freedom of Information Act” (Searcher Magazine, April 1998). She has an MA in History from Indiana University and an MLS from University of Maryland. During the 4 years she ran her own business research company, she honed her considerable Web searching skills, locating information that was not easily accessible using standard Web tools. She is employed by the Bureau of National Affairs, a leading legal publisher, and she manages their Intranet. In this session, she will cover: a) the Invisible Web—what is it? b) new developments in search engines c) tips on staying current with Web resources d) recommended, inexpensive web tools to improve your searching e) hidden art and architecture resources, and f) the latest developments in image searching on the Web. Gary Price, previously scheduled to speak, regrets being unable to attend. He has offered to put together "Gary's Summer School" for ARLIS members; this promises to be a a series of virtual session of tips for navigating the Invisible Web.
