ART DOCUMENTATION CONTENTS CO-EDITOR

The position of Art Documentation Contents Co-Editor will be vacant after the publication of the Fall 2003 issue with the resignation of current Co-Editor, Tom Jacoby. Kathy Zimon has agreed to continue in her position as the other Co-Editor, and applications for Tom's soon-to-be former position are now being accepted.  ARLIS/NA members are also encouraged to submit the names of qualified nominees for this position. 

Term: Two-year, renewable, commencing September 2003. 
Honorarium: $500 per issue
Art Documentation appears twice per year. 
Informal interviews will be conducted during the 2003 ARLIS/NA Annual Conference in Baltimore. 

JOB DESCRIPTION: ART DOCUMENTATION EDITOR 
The Contents Editor(s) of Art Documentation is/are responsible for its intellectual content and coordinate(s) and edit(s) all submissions for final publication.  In addition, the editor(s) may initiate special articles and theme issues, working with authors to ensure high quality and stimulating content.
 
The Contents Editor(s) will work closely with other personnel in the production of each issue of Art Documentation: a copy editor who edits the manuscripts and proofs the galleys; the Executive Director at Headquarters; the Review Editor, the Publisher, and with the ARLIS/NA Executive Board, as needed.  The Contents Editor(s) of Art Documentation reports to the ARLIS/NA President (ARLIS/NA POLICY NO.: R-22). 
 
Major Responsibilities:
 
Solicit(s) special articles and may develop theme issues for Art Documentation
 
May work with guest editors and authors to ensure high quality and appropriateness of content
 
Coordinate(s) peer review of articles by outside readers, as appropriate
 
Accepts or rejects unsolicited manuscripts as appropriate
 
Communicates with authors, discusses their work and recommends changes if necessary. Rewriting or heavy editing is undertaken only in consultation with the author to avoid changing the meaning. 
 
Obtains all components necessary for publication (illustrations, notes, permissions, etc.). Material involving royalties shall be avoided.
