Tuesday, March 25th at 10:30 a.m. in the Carroll Room of the Wyndham
Hotel.  Four speakers will present from varied professional and

Session 17
Nordic Expeditions:
Exploring Art Information Resources for Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway,
Sweden

Tuesday, March 25, 10:30 am - 12 noon.  Carroll.

Abstract
This session will focus on art, architecture, and design resources-both print
and online-related to the Nordic region.  A panel of speakers will highlight
developments, current challenges, and special projects in art libraries in
Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.  Emphasis will be given to
strategies for identifying reference and research materials of interest to
librarians and researchers seeking information on Nordic visual culture.
Audience participation will be sought during a question-and-answer period.

Speakers
Kerstin Assarsson-Rizzi is Chief Librarian, Library of the Royal Academy of
Letters, History and Antiquities (Sweden) and National Heritage Board and
Current Chair, IFLA's Section of Art Libraries.  She will discuss her ideas
and perspectives on Swedish art information resources, particularly with
regards to preserving this nation's cultural heritage.

Frances Clymer is Librarian, McCracken Research Library, Buffalo Bill
Historical Center.  She has lived and worked extensively in Finland and will
address Nordic web resources of value to art information researchers.

Anja Lollesgaard is Librarian at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art, as well
as former chair of ARLIS in Denmark (1994-1999), chair of ARLIS/Norden
(1996-1999), and international contact person and member of the Standing
Committee of IFLA's Section of Art Libraries (1997-2001).  Lollesgaard will
provide an overview of images and information on Danish art, architecture, and

design, including a government-funded web portal which opened in October 2002.

Lena Torslow Hansen, Owner, ART CONSULTING: SCANDINAVIA Books on Art &
Architecture, will describe the founding and current operations of her firm,
the only major resource in the world for Scandinavia-related art and
architecture books.
