User Services Specialist, ARTstor
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation seeks a User Services Specialist for its
ARTstor initiative.  The purpose of ARTstor is to develop and distribute a
library of digital images and related scholarly materials to support
teaching, learning and research in the arts and associated fields.  ARTstor
will be made available through site licenses to non-profit institutions,
including institutions of higher education, museums, and other cultural
organizations.

Responsibilities

The User Services Specialist will be responsible for providing front line
support services to institutions licensing ARTstor.  The User Services
Specialist will report to the User Services Coordinator and work closely
with the rest of the ARTstor team. Specific responsibilities include:

*               Provide support services for ARTstor licensees, working
directly with a range of institutional staff at participating institutions,
including information technology and instructional technology staff, visual
resource professionals, librarians, museum professionals
*               Provide technical support and help desk services related to
both technical issues (hardware, software, network infrastructure) and
content (availability of certain content areas, questions about image or
data quality)
*       Assist with the development and maintenance of online and printed
documentation and training materials
*               Assist in assessing and enhancing the usability,
functionality, and interoperability of the ARTstor service
*       Assist in performing regular assessment of the needs of users from a
range of institutional settings
*       Assist in performing regular assessment of the impact of ARTstor on
teaching, learning, and research

Qualifications

The User Services Specialist should be creative, energetic, and committed to
the development and delivery of high-quality services to users in the
educational and arts community.

Required: Bachelor's degree in a liberal arts discipline, in computer or
information science, or in a relevant technical field; minimum of 2 years
experience in user support and training; excellent written and oral
communication skills regarding technical and non-technical subjects;
demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with professional staff members
in all sectors of the user community.
