User Services Coordinator, ArtSTOR
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation seeks a User Services Coordinator for its
ARTstor initiative.  The purpose of ARTstor is to develop and distribute a
library of digital images and related scholarly materials to support
teaching, learning and research in the arts and associated fields.  ARTstor
will be made available through site licenses to non-profit institutions,
including institutions of higher education, museums, and other cultural
organizations.

Responsibilities

The User Services Coordinator will be responsible for designing and
implementing ARTstor services to participating institutions.  The User
Services Coordinator will work closely with other members of the ARTstor
staff, and will manage a small team specializing in user support and
instructional technology.  Specific responsibilities include:

Support Services

o Design and implement support services for ARTstor licensees
o Coordinate and provide technical support and help desk services related to
both technical issues (hardware, software, network infrastructure) and
content (availability of certain content areas, questions about image or
data quality)
o Serve as principal ARTstor liaison with institutional support staff at
selected colleges, universities, museums and other institutions during the
ARTstor beta test period and afterwards
o Build relationships with a range of institutional staff, including
information technology and instructional technology staff, visual resource
professionals, librarians, museum professionals
o Interface and coordinate with a range of ARTstor staff, including
technology, production, and collections development
o Oversee a small team of user services specialists
o Design and implement user services systems and processes

Training

o Assess need for training of user support and technical staff at
participating institutions and coordinate required training
o Coordinate the development and maintenance of online and printed
documentation and training materials

Assessment
o Collaborate with other ArtSTOR staff and project partners in assessing and
enhancing the usability, functionality, and interoperability of the ArtSTOR
service
o Perform regular assessment of the needs of users from a range of
institutional settings
o Perform regular assessment of the impact of ArtSTOR on teaching, learning,
and research

Qualifications

The User Services Coordinator should be creative, energetic, and committed
to the development and delivery of high-quality services to users in the
educational and arts community.  Applicants should have demonstrated
leadership and management skills.

Required: Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant liberal arts
discipline or in the fields of computer or information science; minimum of 5
years experience in user support and training, including at least 3 years as
a manager of a user services or support staff; excellent written and oral
communication skills technical literacy and strong problem-solving skills;
demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with professional staff members
in all sectors of the user community.
