ARLIS-L Colleagues, I fell behind a bit in January and February with my monthly tips, but I'm back again for the month of March. With the upcoming conference many people may wish to set their ARLIS-L subscriptions to NOMAIL while they are gone. This is very important for several reasons. 1. If you use an automatic response in your email system, posters to the list will not receive that short email from your system whenever they post. We all have had the experience of receiving up to 10 or more little emails from people out of the office for a length of time every time we post to the list. Save people the hassle of getting these by setting your subscription to NOMAIL. 2. You have less email to wade through when you return from the conference (or vacation, or wherever) 3. While you're in Baltimore you won't be missing much on the list because everyone else will be in Baltimore as well! To set your subscription on NOMAIL, follow these directions: 1. send an email from the exact address you are subscribed under to: [log in to unmask] 2. Leave the subject blank and get rid of any signature files that automatically append to all your outgoing email. 3. type the following command: SET ARLIS-L NOMAIL You'll receive an email back indicating that your subscription has changed. Follow the same instructions when you get back from the conference to reverse this but use the command: SET ARLIS-L MAIL. If you have any problems doing this there could be a number of reasons. Do not hesitate to contact me so we can figure it out. By contacting me I also get the opportunity to clean up old addresses or mistakes in the database.
