Hi All: Because Virginia Tech is home of the International Archive of
Women in Architecture (IAWA) we often get interesting questions from folks
trying to ferret out info on women architects - some are a bit more obscure
than others...Could anyone offer help with this one? I'm stumped!

The patron is trying to find info on a group of sisters - she thinks there
were 4 of them - who she thinks were working in CA in the 1930's. They
designed single family residences that "looked sort of like fantasy stone
cottages and included little touches like niches for 'elves' to perch
on". She remembers reading the article in some sort of shelter/home
design/interior design mag in the 1980's or early 1990's. She thinks the
article was mostly photos with little text. Ring any bells?

Any further clues - possibly acquired from garden gnomes in the know -
would be greatly appreciated.
- Heather
