1) Do you collect all types of artists' books (multiples, limited edition
and unique)? Please specify. What types do you not collect?

WE HAVE EXAMPLES OF ALL TYPES IN OUR SMALL COLLECTION.  i BEGAN ADDING
THESE TO THE LIBRARY APPROXIMATELY SIX YEARS AGO AS EXMAPLES OF
CONTEMPORARY ART.  wE NOW, FOR THE FIRST TIME HAVE A FACULTY MEMBER WHO
TEACHES GRAD COURSES IN CONTEMPORARY ART.  wE ALSO SERVE A STUDIO ARTS
DEPT.

2) Is there anything unique about your collection?. For instance, do you
have a regional scope of collecting?

NO

3) Approximately how many artists' books do you have in your collection?

APPROXIMATELY 100 TITLES, ADD ABOUT 2-3 PER YEAR, DEPENDING ON PRICE AND
BUDGET

4) Do you work with another curatorial department in your institution,
such as a print department, on selection/criteria or collection
development? Are all the artists' books collected by your institution
cataloged into one system (ie RLIN, OCLC)?

I WORK ALONE, BUT AM HAPPY TO COOPERATE WITH FACULTY WHO ARE INTERESTED IN
PARTICIPATINHG IN COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT.  I DO NOW RECEIVE ADVICE FROM
NEW FACULTY MEMBER IN CONTEMRPOARY ART

ARTISTS BOOKS ARE CATALOGED INTO OCLC ALONG WITH ALL LIBRARY BOOKS IN U OF
PGH SYSTEM.

5) Does your institution have a
program that highlights
artists' books (publishing, programming, exhibition)?

NOW CONTEMPORARY ART THAT BEGAN IN FALL 2002.  WE HAVE HAD ONE EXHIBITION
IN SPRING 2000 THAT TIED IN WITH ARLIS 2000 IN PITTSBURGH AND INCLUDED
WORKS BY LOCAL BOOK ARTISTS AND THREE LIBRARIES IN ARLIS-OHIO CHAPTER.
THE EXHIBITION RECEIVED EXCELLENT COVERAGE IN PGH NEWSPAPER.
