Error - unable to initiate communication with LISTSERV (errno=10061, phase=CONNECT, target=127.0.0.1:2306). The server is probably not started.
Just to clarify: A list-serv list, like ARLIS-L, is more or less self-service, i.e. people can post to it themselves. A list (not list-serv) maintained on an html page in the web site would need to be updated by Derek Crosley or me every time someone joined or withdrew from the list or changed their requirements. Given that we don't seem to have an actual problem here (correct me if I am wrong, and let's hope we never do have one), I am not sure this extra work would be justified. Would it make sense to have a 'roommate list' in the Members Only section of the ARLIS/NA Web Site? Those seeking roommates could post queries there and also see who else needs a roomie. The only disadvantage I can think of is non-members who wanted to attend the conference wouldn't have access, but they could still post to ARLIS-L. Is there a reason this wouldn't work that I'm overlooking? Maybe it would be extra work for the webmaster?
