Dear Annamaria,

You may already be familiar with this publication, but if you are not, I
would recommend Collection Development Policies for Libraries & Visual
Collections in the Arts, compiled by Ann Baird Whiteside, Pamela Born,
and Adeane Alpert Bregman (Laguna Beach, Calif.: Art Libraries Society of
North America, 2000). Each section addresses a type of art library, such
as museum libraries, and each section begins with a statistical chart.
The publication is available through ARLIS/NA
http://www.arlisna.org/forms/pub4saleFRM.html.

Good luck.
