        Jonathan Zimmerman is director of the History of Education program at New
York University.  His most recent book, "Whose America?: Culture Wars and
the Public Schools" (Harvard University Press, 2002), is a fascinating
discussion of the historical and contemporary tensions within American
culture over textbooks, race, ethnicity, and religion in our public
schools.

        This event is free, open to the public, and handicapped-accessible.
