Adjunct Faculty Reference Librarian/Evening Supervisor- New York City


FIT seeks a part-time Reference Librarian to provide reference
assistance to students and patrons as well as evening supervision. Delegate
work assignments to library support staff.
Qualifications:  Master’s degree in Library Science and a minimum of two
years of appropriate professional experience.  Knowledge of research tools
and techniques, including online catalog, online databases and information
sources, and CD-ROM technology and applications.  Excellent communication
skills, including bibliographic instruction.  Supervisory experience
preferred.

Duties:  Supervise public service desks and staff from 5 p.m. to
closing.  Consult with day supervisors in each area to assure work
continuity and completion of tasks.  Resolve problems and facilitate
access for library patrons.  Provide reference assistance, both by
telephone and in person, to FIT students, faculty, and administration,
as well as visitors from industry and other patrons.  Review and
classify articles in trade publications for in-house indexing.  Be
responsible for collection development in assigned subject areas.
Compile subject bibliographies and research guides.  Conduct
bibliographic instruction classes and organize evening workshops.
Perform similar or related duties as required.

22 hour per week: Monday-Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., during
Fall/Spring semesters.  1 p.m. to 7 p.m. January, June and July. Hours
vary in August.  Hours subject to change based on the needs of the
department.  $29.69 p/h.
