In transcribing a collection of letters from the Furman Family of
Cornhill Plantation, South Carolina, one of my volunteers has come
across the following reference in a letter written by Susan Miller
Furman:

"The Gov's place was looking so pretty. Sudie enjoyed it very much, she
had only been there once & that in the winter. The Gov sent Pa [John H.
Furman] an old painting several hundred years old, was from a counts
Palace in Italy, & brought over by Count Binder who married Genl.
Sumter's grand-daughter. It is called 'Job' & shows age. We prize it.
You know I like old relics."

We are wondering if anyone knows if this painting is extant and if so,
where it's located. Also, if you have any information about the
painting that would help us fill in the blanks, we would appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.
