This is a message that was posted to another list from a video technician on campus here at Purdue. Thought it might be of use to some. Kathy Hi all, I just wanted to pass this information along to anyone using Pioneer DVD-R drives. It seems some of the new high speed DVD-R disks can potentially damage your drive by causing it to overheat. The problem is caused by a bug in the firmware and there is a patch available on Pioneers web page. You can find more information on drives affected and how to download the firmware upgrade at the following web site. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/hs/ -- Kathy Evans Slide Librarian Purdue University Department of Visual and Performing Arts Phone: 765-494-7666 Fax: 7665-496-1198 e-mail: [log in to unmask] website for slide library: http://www.sla.purdue.edu/academic/vpa/ad/slide-library/ __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org//membership.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner (Kerri Scannell) at: [log in to unmask]
