Thanks to all who answered my question about locations of art works. I
was asked to post the recommended sources. Here are a list of the
suggested sites and resources:

1) Art Inventories database at the Smithsonian
http://www.siris.si.edu/
search the Art Inventories.

2) Artcyclopedia: http://www.artcyclopedia.com/index.html

3) A google Boolean search.
For example, after reading your question, I went to google and asked
for "basquiat and untitled" and got some helpful-looking responses.

There's also http://images.google.com to consider.

4) Use Art Abstracts (online) as it indexes titles and also
> either google or altavista, using quotations around their title. It
works
> most of the time.

5) http://www.library.arizona.edu/users/juarezm/Images%26Art.html
