Our library created an online index to identify electronic databases that has full text per journal title we subscribe to -- obviously, you will see that this list will be geared toward our subscriptions at Cleveland State University Library (database as well as journal title) but this is a very useful tool to have -- here is the url Pam Eyerdam http://html.ulib.csuohio.edu/scripts/ej/ejsub1.asp?vdisp=1&vsubid=2 -----Original Message----- From: ART LIBRARIES SOCIETY DISCUSSION LIST [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Alexandra de Luise Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2002 9:43 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [ARLIS-L] cancelling print for electronic issues Hello everyone-- I read last week's postings on print vs. electronic journal issues with interest. A question was posed whether anyone has done a comparison of print and electronic "equivalents" to find out if they were really equivalent. While not the same thing, I recently did an unscientific examination of electronic databases, comparing them to each other (aggregators to aggregators, gateways to gateways, databases to databases, etc), by tracing an individual journal through each one to see how it was indexed/abstracted/presented full text. I hope to have this information written up and published soon, before the data gets too old! But what I did discover, purely by looking and examining, is that Project Muse was the better product, in terms of delivering full text articles with images. So I agree with Liv and her colleague about Project Muse. In an email to Project Muse about this, I started a short back and forth with someone there who was very interested in knowing about art journal titles I would recommend for indexing. So I sent her a list of what I consider to the be the top twenty art journal titles. Whatever comes of this, and maybe nothing for now, its good to know that the interest is there. thanks for the discussion, Alexandra de Luise Coord., Instructional Services Queens College Flushing, NY I __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org//membership.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner (Kerri Scannell) at: [log in to unmask] __________________________________________________________________ Mail submissions to [log in to unmask] For information about joining ARLIS/NA see: http://www.arlisna.org//membership.html Send administrative matters (file requests, subscription requests, etc) to [log in to unmask] ARLIS-L Archives and subscription maintenance: http://lsv.uky.edu/archives/arlis-l.html Questions may be addressed to list owner (Kerri Scannell) at: [log in to unmask]
