As Vice President/President Elect of ARLIS/SE, I am excited to announce the
28th annual meeting of the Southeast Chapter of ARLIS/NA (ARLIS/SE) will
take place on the weekend of November 7-9, 2002 in Asheville, North
Carolina.  Information on the conference is available on the web at
<http://www.arlis-se.org/>.

EVENTS: Highlights of the meeting include:
-  Tour of Biltmore House, the magnificent "summer house" of the Vanderbilt
family.
-  Tour of and presentation on Grove Park Inn's artist studios led by Bruce
Johnson, historian, artist and for the last 12 years organizer of the Grove
Park Inn Arts and Crafts Conference.
-  Demonstrations of the latest in visual resources technology as used in
southeastern art institutions, including Luna as used by Duke University and
Digital Imaging Database, the James Madison University produced now in use
at Clemson University
-  A walking tour of the architectural history of Asheville
-  Panel discussion on arts and crafts in the region with noted local
historians and artists.

HOTEL: The conference hotel is the Renaissance Asheville Hotel, located in
downtown on Thomas Wolfe Plaza. A special rate of $119.00 /night for double
occupancy is available if you mention ARLIS/SE.  Additional hotels and
bed-and-breakfasts in the Asheville area can be located at Asheville
Hotels.com (<http://www.asheville-hotels.com/>) and the North Carolina Bed
and Breakfast Association (<http://www.ashevillebba.com>).

REGISTRATION: Registration for this conference is available on our website
(<http://www.arlis-se.org/>).  Unfortunately, you cannot register online,
but you can fill out your information, print it out and mail the
registration form with your check to the Secretary-Treasurer at the address
shown on the form.  Please note the separate section of optional fees that
includes the Biltmore House fee, the charge for the Asheville Urban Trail
walking tour and LoPresti Book Award raffle tickets.

DEADLINE:  Registration deadline is October 1st.
