ERIC GILL IN DITCHLING
edited by Peter Holliday

(((((())))))))(((((())))))))(((((())))))))(((((())))))))(((((())))))))

Among the many noted books on Eric Gill, the famous British typographer,
sculpture and artist, this charming work with its three essays covers a facet
of Gill's life rarely touched upon. The contributing authors discuss for
the first time
aspects of Eric Gill's work associated with the village of Ditchling, in
Sussex, where
he lived and had his studios between 1907 to 1924.

Beautifully written and illustrated the authors focus on Eric Gill's most
creative period.

The authors are Peter Holliday, a design historian and formerly an
assistant to Hilary Bourne,
founder of Ditchling Museum; Timothy McCann, the Assistant County Archivist
at the
West Sussex Record Office at Chichester; and Jill Lingen-Watson, who lived
in Gill's former
house, Hopkin's Crank on Ditchling Common from 1953.

The book as been produced with the kind assistance of the staff and the
Trustees of
Ditchling Museum and of the libraries of the Tate Gallery and the St. Bride
Printing Library.
