LIBRARY SYSTEMS COORDINATOR
THOMAS J. WATSON LIBRARY
THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART

The Library Systems Coordinator is responsible for the installation and
maintenance of computer hardware and software throughout the library. This
position provides systems support to library staff using the acquisitions,
serials, circulation and cataloging modules provided by Innovative
Interfaces, and assists in the implementation and management of resources
provided by the Hazen Center, the library's Electronic Resources Center.
This position reports to the Systems Librarian.

Responsibilities:

Serves as the library's help desk. Coordinates and when appropriate refers
service requests to the Museum's help desk. Installs computer equipment and
software.

Diagnoses and fixes malfunctions and performs preventative maintenance.
Assists in the documentation of systems policies and procedures including
inventories of equipment. Performs INNOPAC database maintenance and other
INNOPAC systems maintenance.

Performs MARC record transfers from RLIN and book vendors into Watsonline,
and monthly upload of Watsonline records to RLIN. Works with the Systems
Librarian and other members of the library staff to coordinate library
technology-based services.

Assists staff in the assessment of and training in the most effective use of
electronic resources provided by library vendors. Conducts instructional
sessions in the use of library technology. Works with departmental and
independent libraries to facilitate and to optimize the use of INNOPAC,
RLIN, and other library online resources.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree; ability to troubleshoot PC components and peripherals, LAN
and CD-ROM hardware and software; experience in library automation and
knowledge of library computer resources; 1 year of relevant experience in an
academic library; familiarity with the MARC format; ability to work
independently and as part of a team; demonstrated oral and written skills
and effective interpersonal skills; knowledge of Microsoft products;
flexibility in adapting to changing departmental and organizational
priorities; commitment to provide service to library staff.
