Pacific Northwest College of Art, a 90 year-old institution with national and regional accreditation, became independent when it separated from the Portland Art Museum four years ago. The new PNCA library opened in spring 2001 and includes a Visual Resources Collection, archives, electronic databases, over 50 periodicals and other serials, a collection of over 300 video tapes, thesis works, and over 11,000 total bibliographic items.
The Director of Library Services is responsible for selecting, organizing and providing access to information needed by the students, faculty and staff of PNCA.
Requirements: MLS or MLIS from an accredited ALA institution; two years management experience in a visual resources collection or college library; knowledge of library circulation, acquisitions, cataloging procedures, MARC formats; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collegially in an evolving institution.
Prefer: BFA or Masters Degree in Art or Art History; knowledge of HTML, Word and Excel; knowledge of fine arts reference materials; specialized experience in visual resources use and management, including academic slide processing and curating; experience in Chancery's LibraryPro/Libraryworld Gold (K-12 software).
