Department:  Library
Position:  Visual Resources/Public Service Librarian
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the management,
acquisition, and classification of slides, digital images, and other
formats for architecture, urban design, interior design and other
subjects.
                         Responsibilities include:  Planning,
developing, and integrating electronic access and web-based technologies
for the collection; maintaining a database of visual images and image
collections; overseeing/training student copy photographer, student
aides, library associate and graduate assistants; working with faculty
to provide the visual media for teaching; and supervising local
processing and cataloging of slides and digital images using Microsoft
Access.
                                    He/she will also provide reference
services, assist in supervising circulation desk, circulating library
materials and in the maintenance of the periodicals collection.  Will
also be responsible for overseeing the library in the absence of the
Director of Branch Services.  Required to work an evening or weekend day
during each semester.

Qualifications: A.L.A. accredited M.L.S. Subject expertise or coursework
degree in art, architecture or related discipline desirable.  At least
three years of experience in a visual resources collection.
Demonstrated knowledge of current visual collection practices, emerging
technologies and their applications, and standards for cataloging,
storing and disseminating images.  Skills in cataloging and database
creation and management of digital and photographic images. Skilled in
Microsoft Access, Microsoft Frontpage, and other HTML authoring tools.
Working knowledge of basic photographic techniques and procedures
desirable. Strong commitment to public service.  Excellent interpersonal
communication and organizational skills, ability to work in a
team-oriented environment, and must be able to creatively solve
problems.
