Judy, I have been working with our Friends of Art group for nearly 20 years and am also on their Board. For over 15 years, I have planned with the FoA Executive Secretary an annual fundraiser dinner which is attended by up to 100 guest and raises several thousand dollars because a private donor picks up most of the catering charges. It creates a great deal of good will and encourages numerous gifts in kind. Some time we should have an ask arlis session about creative fund raising. I work through the Friends of Art which supports both our Art Museum and the School of FA. The dinner is our only event specifically for the FAL. Do you already have another Friends group that you can work with? I cannot imagine running such a group by myself. Our Exec. Sec. works c. 20 hours per week planning events and maintaining all records, membership records and renewals. Good luck, bj ps. Our School of Fine Arts includes a large art school and art history program. B. J.
