Bienes Center for the Literary Arts announces the opening of:

Big Little Books: The Whitman Publishing Company's Golden Age, 1932-1938: An Exhibition from the Duane M. Siers Family Collection, June 21-September 20, 2002.

The selection of 136 Big Little Books on view is part of a larger collection of approximately 450 titles donated to the Broward County Libraries Division in 1986 by Duane M. Siers, a Broward County resident from Deerfield Beach, FL. 

Featured in the collection of small treasures for children are some of the best-known comic book, radio program, movie and children's classics characters of the 1930 and 1940s. Dick Tracy, Buck Rogers, Mickey Mouse, Little Orphan Annie, Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, Li'l Abner, Popeye the Sailor and Tarzan are among those represented.

A printed catalog with 136 color illustrations will be available July 15th, 2002:
