Dear Colleagues:
Just a reminder that if there is someone whom you would like to nominate for
the Distinguished Service Award for 2003, you may want to start putting
together your nomination package in the very near future. There is a great
deal of documentation to assemble, especially as members of the award
committee are obliged to depend ENTIRELY on this documentation in order to
make their decision. For guidelines, look carefully at BOTH of the sources
cited below. You will see that the award encompasses quite a broad range of
types of service. Section L-10 of the ARLIS/NA Policy Manual includes
helpful standards for nominators.

The award honors an individual of any country whose exemplary service in art
librarianship, visual resources curatorship, or a related field, has made an
outstanding national or international contribution to art information and/or
art librarianship.
Guidelines, including criteria, eligibility (recipients need not be members
of ARLIS/NA), and procedures for nominations, are available on the ARLIS /NA
website at: <http://www.arlisna.org/dsa98.htm>. Other important and helpful
details are available online in Section L-10 of the ARLIS/NA Policy Manual.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, 13 September 2002. You are
encouraged to think about the award, discuss it with colleagues and visit
the Web site for details; nomination packets should be addressed to:
