DESCRIPTION: Panel members, each a member of President-Elect
Freedman's Task Force on Better Salaries & Pay Equity Task
Force, include:

Mitch Freedman, ALA President-Elect, Director, Westchester
Library System

Patricia Glass Schuman, Past ALA President, President of
Neal-Schuman Publishing Co.

Gene Kinnaly, Senior Cataloger at Library of Congress

Donna Mandel, Reference and Young Adult Librarian at Oakland
Public Library

Mitch Freedman will discuss the efforts of his Presidential Task
Force on developing better salaries for library workers. Patricia
Glass Schuman presents "How to Advocate for Better Salaries and
Pay Equity" by getting your message across and being prepared to
answer tough questions. Gene Kinnaly will present "Salary and Pay
Equity Issues for Library Support Staff" and Donna Mandel will
present "The Role of Unions in Achieving Better Salaries and Pay
Equity."

The first hour of the program will feature these four individual
presentations.  The second hour will be a question-and-answer and
general discussion period - program attendees are encouraged to
participate.
