You have all been of invaluable assistance in the past and I come to the
well again...

How would you respond to an administration request to create a slide
collection to be used as teaching aids by photographing images (photographs,
works of art, etc.) from books? These images would be used in the classromm
and in the library by instructors and students and would be scanned to
create a database.  Would this be a violation of copyright law?  Is there a
way to identify images that are in the public domain? I have done some
reading on copyright and admit to being confused about fair use issues.
Could really use your guidance...
