are pleased to announce the co-winners of the 2001 Florida Artists' Book Prize of $2,000:

Andrew Binder

Andrew Binder is an adjunct professor of art and technology at Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton, FL), Palm Beach Community College and Lynn University.

Marianne Haycook
"The Peacock's Tail"
Concertina binding (26 x 21.5 x 4 cm) with handmade paper spine, peacock feathers and hard board covers. Cover image is stencilled and handpainted. In handmade box.
Number 1 of an edition of 3.

Marianne Haycook is a resident of Lighthouse Point, Fl. This is her first artists' book.

The Florida Artists' Book Prize was jointly established in 1997 by Broward County Libraries Division's Bienes Center for the Literary Arts and the Florida Center for the Book. Serving on the jury this fifth year of the competition were: Ruth and Marvin Sackner of the Sackner Archive of Visual and Concrete Poetry (Miami, FL), and Arthur Jaffe of the Arthur and Mata Jaffe Collection: Books as Aesthetic Objects (Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL).

The award ceremony and exhibit opening reception will be held March 14, 2002, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the galleries of the Bienes Center for the Literary Arts.
