Hi Pat We have a beautiful painting "Venus, cupid and bacchus" (c.1715) by Gregorio Lazzarini (teacher of Tiepolo) in the Fine Arts Library. It is rather large and we have it on a wall above some vertical files. That way, no one can, God forbid, scratch their name on it, or lean up against it. It was given to the university as a gift, later sent to the Canadian Conserevation Institute for restoration, lent to the National Gallery of Canada to be part of an exhibition and finally up again in its place. We have a virtual exhibition of it on our homepage http://www.library.ubc.ca/finearts/Lazzarini.html It is close to the reference desk so there is staff supervision.
