Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego Job Description Position Title: Librarian Classification: Permanent, part time position (20 hours per week) Reports to: Curator of Education Job Summary: Manage all aspects of museum & audio/visual resources’ library, & collections & exhibitions visual archives in keeping with the Museum’s mission and collection. Responsibilities/Duties: · Manage all aspects of the library’s collections including cataloguing all print, visual & audio materials; recommending & coordinating new acquisitions and deaccessions; binding periodicals; collection storage & preservation; inventory · Maintain visual archive of Museum’s collections & exhibitions (digitally & slides) · Develop both long and short term plan for library’s growth & use both within & without the Museum · Support curators, docents and members in their research · Plan & develop annual budget in consultation with Curator of Education · Train, supervise & evaluate interns & volunteers · Manage & promote exhibition catalogue exchange program · Keep abreast of current art world publications, articles, reviews etc. and circulate to key staff · Maintain affiliation in professional art library association · Answer reference questions by mail, email & telephone Qualifications · Master of Library & Information Science · Background in art history · Minimum 2 years experience in library management · Knowledge of one or more languages other than English an asset Please send resume to: Kelly McKinley Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego 700 Prospect Street La Jolla, CA 92037. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
