Mellon Foundation seeks both a User Services Coordinator and a User Services Support Specialist for the ArtSTOR digital initiative. ArtSTOR's mission is to provide the scholarly, educational, and cultural communities with access to an expanding electronic archive of digital images and related scholarly materials used in the study of art, architecture, and other fields in the humanities. ArtSTOR is currently a Foundation initiative; it will become a separate nonprofit organization once its collections become fully available to users. The Foundation's offices are in New York City and in Princeton, NJ. Responsibilities The User Services Coordinator will report to the Executive Director of ArtSTOR; the User Services Support Specialist(s) will report to the User Services Coordinator. Together these individuals will: - collaborate with other key ArtSTOR staff in developing and coordinating beta testing of the ArtSTOR collections and services - serve as principal ArtSTOR liaisons with end users and their institutional support staff at selected colleges, universities and other institutions during the beta test period and afterwards - coordinate or perform the ongoing assessment of ArtSTOR's expanding suite of services and collections - coordinate or perform the ongoing assessment of the impact of ArtSTOR on teaching, learning and scholarship in the history of art and related disciplines - coordinate or perform the ongoing assessment of the instructional and other support needs of ArtSTOR users in a range of institutional settings - coordinate the provision of instructional support guidance to representatives of institutional subscribers to ArtSTOR - coordinate and develop printed and web-based instructional support materials for use by institutional subscribers to ArtSTOR - collaborate with other key ArtSTOR staff and project partners in assessing and enhancing the usability of the ArtSTOR software environment, including instructional support features, help screens, etc. - collaborate with other key ArtSTOR staff in defining optimal ways of integrating ArtSTOR into the expanding suite of digital resources in the history of art and related disciplines (full-text journals, authority tools, indexing and abstracting services, dictionaries and encyclopedias and other reference tools) - collaborate with other key ArtSTOR staff in assessing the impact of ArtSTOR on organizational and budgetary structures at subscribing institutions - collaborate with other key ArtSTOR staff in developing and enhancing ArtSTOR's web presence, especially from a usability perspective - represent and champion ArtSTOR with prospective subscribers, at professional conferences, through site visits, and in other venues Qualifications Candidates for User Services Coordinator and User Services Support Specialist should be creative, energetic individuals committed to the development and delivery of high-quality online services to users at institutions of higher education and the cultural community. Candidates for User Services Coordinator should have demonstrated leadership and management skills. Required: Demonstrated commitment to high-quality user services. At least 3 years experience developing (User Services Coordinator) or delivering (User Services Support Specialist) client service programs in the higher education, library, or museum community. Demonstrated skills and at least 3 years experience in providing end-user instruction in the use of digital technologies. Demonstrated ability to conduct or coordinate assessment of software usability, service quality, and user support needs, as well as to coordinate and manage others working in user services and related activities. Ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues in a quickly evolving and collegial environment essential. Preferred: Experience working with Luna Imaging, Inc.'s "Insight" software. Significant academic coursework in the history of art or a related discipline in the humanities. Teaching experience or experience working directly with instructors in higher education. The Andrew W.
