I think I changed one person's mind with humor. I was taking a grad
course on non-ethnic minority groups (police, athletes, etc.) and, since I
was a librarian, decided to do my big project on librarians. A draft met
with the usual remarks and suggestions, but when I turned in the final
project with cartoons and jokes about librarians (but not much of the
substance changed from the draft),the prof. became very enthusiastic, said
he had no idea librarians did so much wonderful work, recommended others
in the class consult me, and praised librarians to students in his
other classes. More work, but still nice to hear the good words.
