We also have a wonderful benefit to offer students in the Gerd Muehsam Award. The current GMA Committee, under the able chairship of Paula Gabbard, has worked hard not only to publicize the award via library schools, but actually took the time to identify individual library school faculty who teach courses where papers or projects relevant to art librarianship/VR curatorship might be written. The net result is that the Committee received an excellent number of submissions (hopefully from potential future members!). The GMA includes a cash ($500) and travel ($300) award, registration for the conference, a one year membership, and publication of the abstract or the entire paper in Art Documentation. This award is an excellent example of how ARLIS/NA can attract new members within our existing programs and structure.
