Dear List Members,

The Association of Historians of Nineteenth-Century Art (AHNCA), an
affiliated society of the College Art Association, is about to launch a new
scholarly, referreed journal _Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide_ at the annual
meeting in Philadelphia on February 21st 5:30-7:00. If you will be at the
CAA meeting, please join us at the business meeting/reception/launching in
the Salon I and J of the Marriott Hotel.

Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide is intended to be read and consulted by
AHNCA members, as well as users of university and museum libraries,
collectors, dealers, auctioneers, and many others.

It will be an electronically distributed journal available on a dedicated web
site accessible only with a subscriber password. Once inside the web site,
subscribers will be able to read and download the current issue, as well as
previous issues from the Archive. All issues will be searchable by
descriptive tags such as Russia, painting, and Repin. The web site will
provide a discussion room where subscribers can interact about topics raised
in the journal’s articles and reviews.

Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide will appear twice yearly--in February and
September. The premiere issue will be launched in February 2002. Subscribers
will be notified via e-mail shortly before each issue is posted on the web.

Each issue will run 160 pages, comprising 7 to 10 articles and an equal
number of book/exhibition reviews. Articles will be illustrated primarily
with color plates, and also with black-and-white figures when color ones are
not available. Illustrations will appear as "thumbnails" that can easily be
enlarged.

The language of the journal will be English. Manuscripts submitted in other
languages must be translated at the expense of the author, although AHNCA
will help in the author’s effort to secure grant funding for translation
costs. (See Translations.)

AHNCA members will enjoy a reduced annual subscription fee of US$30, in
addition to their regular annual membership dues of $20 ($15 for registered
students). These modest dues entitle the member to AHNCA’s semiannual
newsletter and its contact directory of members worldwide. Higher
subscription fees will be assessed for non-AHNCA members, libraries, and
corporate subscribers. European members and subscribers will be able to make
payment in Euros, at a rate approximately equivalent to the U.S. dollar rate.
