I apologize for sending this message to the entire list, but I do not have a
list of Midstates members at hand. This was the easiest way to reach
everyone involved.

As a member of the nominating committee for the Midstates Chapter election,
I am responsible for counting ballots. Envelopes provided for returning
ballots have been addressed to me. After receiving three ballots today, it
became clear that the envelopes may be causing concern to either
institutional mail rooms or the postal service, if not both.

The envelopes are pre-stamped and include my business address, hand-written
in capital letters. The envelopes used are the same type that were tainted
with anthrax and sent to Capital Hill.

To avoid raising suspicion, and to avoid having your ballots torn open or
thrown out before they reach me, please include some sort of return address
on the envelope. I respect the desire for voter anonymity, so perhaps an
institutional address could be used. Also, I will throw the envelopes away
before looking at the ballots.

I would like to keep a rough count of how many ballots were sent to me. So
far, I have received three. If you sent a ballot, please let me know. This
will assure that everyone who submitted their ballot has a vote counted. If
you have questions or concerns about this matter, please feel free to
contact me.
