Geometr415 Blk BTPosition open for Library Systems Administrator at Art Center College of Design The Library Systems Administrator will work with all departments of the Library to plan, develop and coordinate systems activities; to integrate and standardize access to the Libraryıs collections, including books, periodicals, slides, videos, pictures and archives; to automate Library operations in the most efficient manner; and to organize access to electronic resources and subscriptions for staff and patrons. Analyzes and makes recommendations in the application of electronic information technology; oversees installation and maintenance of computer software and peripherals. The Library Systems Administrator will manage and maintain the libraryıs Dynix (epixtech) Automated Library System. Generates system reports, resolves software problems, oversees inventories, creates email links to student records for sending overdue and hold notices. Implements Remote Patron Access via the web, and Patron Loads for Scholar for the transmission of student data from the Enrollment Services department. Works with Technical Services Librarian to insure integrity and security of Libraryıs online catalog. Creates live URL links for the Dynix online catalog. Mounts electronic reserves for classes. Creates and maintains a web presence for the Library on the Art Center web site. Creates links to art and design resources on the Library web page. Designs and maintains user interfaces. Coordinates training with Reference Librarian in use of electronic resources; creates documentation and electronic pathfinders. Plans and manages special projects. Plans for future changes and plans technology for the libraryıs anticipated move to the new Frank Gehry library building in three to five years. Serves as a dual member of the Library staff and Information Technology department; coordinates services with Digital Media department. Manages technical support for library digital projects and local databases, including Slide Libraryıs EmBARK database and Photo Research File and Archives databases and digital imaging projects. Reports to the V. P., Director of Library and to the V. P., Information Technology. Required qualifications: Extensive knowledge and experience with epixtechıs Dynix automated library system. Ability to customize and install the Dynix/epixtech iPac, the web version of the libraryıs online catalog. Knowledge and experience with OCLC. Experience managing a web site. Excellent communication and people skills. B. A. or B. S. degree or equivalent. Preferred but not required: Knowledge of EmBARK slide automation system or other database software. Background in art and design. Ability to perform some tasks on the Unix operating system; knowledge of Sun system and Solaris. ALA accredited masterıs degree in library and information science.
