Stanford University seeks a service-oriented, energetic individual to
take responsibility for the administration and development of slide and
digital image collections of 500,000 images for our Art History/Studio
Art Department. We'll rely on you to supervise support staff, provide
leadership for collection development/conservation, recommend and monitor
budget allocation, catalogue accessions and manage database. You'll also
implement in-house image production and work with campus libraries and
computing centers developing innovative digital technologies and image
delivery systems for students and the campus community.
This opportunity requires an MA in Art History and MLS (or 3-5 years
experience managing a visual resource collection) and the ability to
assess and integrate rapidly evolving digital information technologies
into a research and instructional program. Experience creating and
modifying web pages, knowledge of Embark and ImageAXS Pro software,
familiarity with VRA Core Categories or Dublin Core data standards and
image licensing, reading knowledge of one or more foreign languages, and
active involvement in professional organizations (VRA & ARLIS) are
essential. Prefer candidate experienced with Luna Imaging software/UNIX
