----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Hi! One of our customers is looking for the whereabouts of a painting by Charles Stanley Reinhart called "Washed Ashore." Reinhart was originally from Pittsburgh, but lived for 10 years in Paris and the latter part of his life in NYC. He was mostly an illustrator, and although our Museum of Art has one of his paintings, it doesn't have that one. The Corcoran Gallery of Art had it until 1957, when they sold it to the Coleman Galleries, but I can find no record of it after that. I've checked Art Index + Retrospective, the Inventories of American Paintings and Sculpture database, our artist files, the standard painting indexes and books on him, and I got everything I could from the Corcoran Gallery registrar. If anyone has any inkling about it or any suggestions for further research, I would be very grateful if you would let me know off list!
