The Athenaeum of Philadelphia announces a new exhibition, "A Splendid Array:
Selections from the Robert L. Raley Collection." The exhibition opened
September 19, 2001 and will run through February 1, 2002.

On exhibit are items from a collection of materials donated to The Athenaeum
of Philadelphia by architect Robert L. Raley, AIA.  The exhibit is drawn
from Mr. Raley's core holdings of rare books on English, American and French
architecture, landscape design and interior furnishings.  Selections on
display include 18th c. architectural folios of neoclassicism such as Robert
Adam's "Ruins of the Palace of  the Emperor Diocletian at Spalatro in
Dalmatia" and Stuart and Revett's "Antiquities of Athens."  Also included in the
exhibition are architectural prints and drawings, and a sketchbook of Philadelphia-born 
architect and engineer, Benjamin Henry Latrobe Jr.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.
