Thanks very much. -Kate Cunningham-Hendrix *********************************************************** A newly revised and enhanced Web resource of posters and artists was released Friday, September 14, by the Colorado State University Libraries. The Web site features nearly 1,000 digitized images of posters from the Libraries’ International Poster Collection. The collection is comprised of posters from the biennial Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE), organized by the university's Department of Art. The majority of the 2001 exhibition posters as well as those from 1995, 1997 and 1999 are available on the Web site. In addition to the digitized posters and their descriptions is biographical information about more than 260 poster artists. The artists are from countries as diverse as China, Finland, Hungary, Venezuela and Zimbabwe. This collection of their work serves as a resource of the finest examples of contemporary art styles from around the world, presenting diverse political perspectives and various cultural themes. Digital imaging, database technology and the Internet combine to provide a powerful way of making this unique resource available worldwide. The International Poster Collection Web site can be found at http://manta.colostate.edu/posters/. The timing of the release was planned to coincide with the opening of the 12th CIIPE, occurring from 7-9 p.m. September 14 in the Visual Arts Building on campus. The exhibition will run through October 19 in the Curfman and Hatton galleries. The complete exhibition will be available on the Web site by the beginning of November. *************************************************************** -- Kate E.
