Librarian/Archivist: The Currier Gallery of Art, Manchester, NH one of northern New England's leading art museums seeks a library professional to manage the areas largest art reference library and the institution's archive.  The librarian is responsible for collection development and provides staff and public access to the collections.  The librarian is also responsible for all aspects of reference services including on-line searching, bibliographic instruction, and documentation (paper and electronic).  The librarian maintains all aspects of technical services (cataloging, serials, and acquisitions) and related computer software.  The librarian is responsible for the preservation of library and archive collections.  The librarian works closely with the curatorial and education departments in developing research materials for the museum's collection and exhibitions. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  MLS from an A.L.A. accredited institution and two - three years experience in an art library (museum, academic or public).  Demonstrated knowledge of MARC format, Library of Congress Classification, Library of Congress Subject Headings, OCLC First Search, CD-ROM technology, on-line searching (including internet) and stand-alone cataloging software.  Knowledge of public reference service and museum practice in the preservation methods for paper, photographs, archive, and records management practices.  Excellent written and oral communications skills, basic organizational skills as well as library coursework or experience in management and indexing a plus.
