Dear colleagues:
The ARLIS/Mountain West Chapter is very pleased to announce its 2001 Annual
Regional Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, November 7-9, 2001.

Conference meetings will be held on the University of Nevada Las Vegas
campus, in the new Lied Library and the Architecture Studies Library.
The program will include a Grand Las Vegas Tour consisting of a bus tour of
downtown Las Vegas and a walking tour guided by Eric Strain, past president
of the Las Vegas AIA and promoter of the arts in Las Vegas. Visits will
include the open air "neon museum", strip hotels, and a discussion of Las
Vegas life, culture, and arts.
There will be a session entitled "Las Vegas Showgirl Costumes: Library
Collections and Costume Designs" presented by Peter Michel, Director of
Special Collections; Su Kim Chung, Manuscript Librarian; and Ellis Pryce
Jones, Professor of Theater at UNLV and a recognized theatrical designer,
currently designing the new American Girl Review in Chicago. We will also
host "Las Vegas as a Design Laboratory" where UNLV College of Fine Arts
faculty in art, dance, architecture and landscape architecture will discuss
how Las Vegas fuels their art and/or their research.
