I am distressed by the impending decision to offer a slate of one
candidate per office.  That is not an election.  That is appointment by
the Nominating Committee.  If the decision is goes that way, call off the
election and save printing and postage costs.

One of the reasons given--one good candidate must lose and that will
be discouraging--also distresses me for it suggests that there are sore
losers out there (I prefer to believe otherwise).  The less "popular"
candidate will gain recognition for a future run--popularity is another
word for household name.
