Try Max Geisberg, The German single-leaf woodcut: 1500-1550 / rev. and ed.
by Walter L. Strauss, New York : Hacker, 1974, vol. 4, p.1535, no. G.1579,
published in Zurich by an unknown artist in 1520, titled "Luther's Game of
Heresy". It shows Luther (right)with what appears to be a long-handled
frying-pan which he holds over a flaming(?) cauldron which is over a fire.
On the other side of the cauldron stands the Devil with a similar
frying-pan. There are lots of labels in verse. There are two minor devils
with forks and another two with a drum and a set of bagpipes. I don't know
whether the print is pro or anti Luther, as late medieval German is not my
subject.

Subject: A question

> Hello All,
> I have a patron who was looking for a work of art called
> "Conversation of Luther with the Devil." We think it is a print, and
> that it is Northern Renaissance (German) around the time of Durer and
> Cranach. I had done a number of searches, but did not find anything.
> If anyone has any idea who exactly is the artist, I would appreciate it
> greatly.
> Thank you,
