ArialBryn Mawr College Reference Librarian - Art, Archaeology, and Growth and Structure of Cities Bryn Mawr College Library is seeking a highly motivated individual to play a major instructional rule in Rhys Carpenter Library for the History of Art, Archaeology, and the Cities programs. Primary responsibilities include providing a full range of reference and information retrieval instruction; developing finding aids, descriptive bibliographies, and other tools that improve the usability and visibility of the collection; participating in collection development, maintaining library and subject Web sites, and playing an active role in planning and policy-making for the Library. The position reports directly to the Head of the Rhys Carpenter Library for Art, Archaeology and Cities. The successful candidate must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills, and familiarity with information technology and its applications in an academic setting. Opportunity to work with the library's Special Collections department in the College's photographs and art collections is a possibility for the right candidate. An MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; an undergraduate degree in one of the subject areas listed above; knowledge of current Web editing tools and techniques; and a reading knowledge of at least one modern western European language are required.
