I'm glad the name of Constance Winchell has been restored to the sequence
of Mudge-Sheehy-Balay by some (dare I say?) old timers. Shortly after I
graduated from the now defunct School of Library Science at Western
Reserve in 1955, I visited my mother's cousin Bert up in Albany NY and was
surprised and delighted to learn that his wife Bietta (who would now be
about 105 were she still alive) had been an assistant to the legendary
Miss Mudge many years previously at Columbia. This connection made me
feel, somehow, that I had chosen the right career path!
