Geometr415 Blk BTMUSEUM OF FINE ARTS, BOSTON LIBRARIAN Will manage the Museum Library, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Library and 8 curatorial department Libraries. Collection Development and Management: build the library collection of over 200,000 volumes to meet the research needs of staff and outside students and scholars researching and interpreting the Museum's collections; direct the preservation program; supervise circulation, stack maintenance, reserves and interlibrary loan. Public Services: plan and provide reference assistance for Museum staff and outside users; develop program of bibliographic instruction; manage library's home page on Internet. Intellectual Access: oversee technical services and cataloging policies and procedures; plan and maintain online information systems serving Museum staff and scholarly community; work collaboratively with Information Resources (IR) to integrate library information and systems with Museum's collection information management system. Administration: hire, supervise, and evaluate all library staff; prepare budget proposals for Director of IR; manage operating budget, special funds and grant budgets; work with Development department to secure outside funding for Library programs, collections and special projects; develop new programs which maximize use of library resources, staff and technology. Qualifications: MLS from ALA-accredited library school or equivalent in theory and practice. Advanced degree in art history or humanities. Reading knowledge of German, French and/or Italian. Experience: 7-10 years professional experience: staff management, financial management, automation and systems planning; web authoring and management. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a team. Flexibility and versatility required to work in an evolving work situation.
