[Please note: This is a reposting of a previous announcement.] ***************************************************** National Gallery of Art Library Vacancy Announcement Library Technician (Circulation) The National Gallery of Art Library is seeking applicants for a student assistant position in the circulation department of the Reader Services section. The primary purpose of the position is to assist with all functions of the Library's circulation desk. Duties include providing general information about the Library and its services to NGA staff and outside readers in person and by telephone, providing instruction to readers on circulation procedures and policies, retrieving and shelving library materials, and assisting with maintenance of circulation department files. Applicants should have a familiarity with library circulation operations and record-keeping, familiarity with the Library of Congress classification system; reading knowledge of a Western European language (e.g., French, German, or Italian); an ability to type and file accurately; familiarity with the operation of personal computers; and an ability to work cooperatively with other staff members. In order to qualify for this position, applicants must be registered at least as a half-time student, and be able to provide certification of student status, including a current class schedule. Work schedules will be determined to accommodate the student's class schedule and the Library's work requirements. A typical schedule is 20 hours per week while classes are in session; full-time employment is available during semester and summer breaks. The incumbent earns sick and annual leave based on the amount of hours worked.
