Dear ARLIS-L-ers,

One of our library's patrons needs sale and auction prices for any paintings
by Hein Heckroth (1901-1970) related to dance, dancers, or to the film "The
Red Shoes."  Heckroth was a German designer and scenographer who painted
over 100 concept paintings and 2000 design and costume sketches for the
film. The patron says he was given a painting with a lone figure of a
ballerina, about 12 x 16 inches, similar to that shown at:

("The Great Wave").  He sold it through a local auction house, but believes
that the price it sold for was grossly under the current market value for
similar Heckroth paintings, and wants hard evidence to back this up.

Unfortunately, neither our library nor the Neuberger Museum (across the
mall) have any of the reference tools which would help answer this question.

I searched ArtFact (www.artfact.com) and found four paintings by Heckroth,
none of which were for "The Red Shoes."  Artprice.com listed 7 paintings,
some of which might have been related to "TRS", but there's no way to tell
without subscribing to their fee-based service.

Any assistance or advice you can share with me would be greatly appreciated!
